Is food included in the trips?

Yes, it is. We take food very seriously, as adventuring is hard work and requires good fuel! Once your trip is booked, you will be emailed a virtual menu form with delicious options to choose from. This includes important questions about your dietary preferences and any allergies, as we cater to a range of requirements. Shorter trips have slightly different menus than the longer trips. For these, we provide breakfast and/or morning and afternoon tea along with good old-fashioned BBQ cookups for lunch. If you’ve been fishing you can cook up your catch of the day over the campfire. Long trips, such as The Simpson Desert, require carefully calculated packing as there are strict allocations for space and weight with every vehicle. For these long voyages, we use a wonderful invention called ‘freeze-dried meals’. The process of freeze-drying food turns liquids into a gas that evaporates, leaving all the food’s nutrients intact! Things such as fruit and dairy can be eaten dried (yes you can eat freeze-dried cheese!), and complete meals are designed to be hydrated with water to return to their delicious self. This takes away the water weight of the food and means it can last a long time without going stale, soggy or off. It’s a game-changer. Breakfasts include oats and cereals, toast, shakes and fruits
  • Lunches and dinners include pasta, curries, rice and soups
  • Beverages include a variety of teas, coffee, juice or cordial, decaf options and Milo
  • Snacks include dried fruit and nuts, the occasional bag of chips and tea biscuits We also love a good campsite damper and some marshmallows toasting on the fire When it’s available, for dinners we stop in at local pubs for a big hearty feed and a cold drink Yes, it is.
